3rd Deck Flooring Replacement
The Board of Directors of the Castle Alpha Tau Foundation, Inc. approved funding for the replacement of the flooring on the 3rd Deck of the John Paine Mansion. The project was approved in 3Q of 2017; estimated cost of approximately $8,250. The project was completed in January of 2018.
The existing tile flooring had aged, and was in poor condition. It was also believed that the 3rd Deck sub-floor was been compromised by infiltration of liquids; such as from routine mopping of the floor.
The existing tile on the 3rd Deck was removed, the sub-floor was been repaired, & new luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring was installed. Shoe & metal transition moldings were also installed where needed (e.g. tie-ins with the 3rd Deck bedrooms). LVT is a durable flooring material that is available in a variety of patterns. The LVT that was installed has a wood grain pattern that matches the woodwork throughout the house, is commercial grade, & has a 40 mil wear layer. By installing such a heavy duty product, the organization anticipates that 3rd Deck flooring replacement will not be necessary for another 15-20 years.
Funding for this project, & for all projects pursued by the organization, is provided by generous tax-deductible donations made to the organization. The organizations 501(c)(3) status allows for acceptance of tax-deductible charitable donations from alumni, in addition to the general public.
