Oct 2021 - Harvest & Halloween Open House

Kim Rapp, October 2021

The Annual Harvest Tour (October 2021) of the Paine mansion welcomed approximately 150 members of the community for free tours. The foyer, parlor, and dining room were decorated for Fall as it may have appeared in 1896 – subtle Fall leaves, pumpkins, candles, and floral arrangements. A custom carved faux pumpkin was inscribed with “Paine Castle” and lit up on a table in the center of the foyer.

Just for children, the center room of the home added some special Halloween ambiance from 2021 - orange lights and decorations for the 10 and younger trick-or-treaters who got the chance to scoop up “goodies” in various locations on the first floor. As the adults viewed the architectural details and heard about the history of the house, the children certainly enjoyed searching for candy!

There was a steady stream of guests touring the home, a testament to community interest in this magnificent historical gem in downtown Troy.

Visit us for our next set of FREE tours during the Victorian Stroll in Troy on December 5, 2021. The Paine mansion will be a delight to see as it will be decorated in sparkling splendor and adorned with traditional greenery, multiple Christmas trees, and holiday floral arrangements!
