Two if by Sea Gallery specializes in antique and vintage lighting. Each unique fixture is carefully restored and rewired to meet modern needs and requirements. I am excited to be involved in the restoration of Paine Castle!

About You and Your Team

• What got you started in this field?

  • I have an artistic and craftsman background imparted to me by my parents and many of my teachers. I started at a stained glass studio early in my career , and then got a job making reproduction Early American lighting fixtures.

• What do you want visitors to know about you and your team?

  • Greg has taken a 30 year career in the lighting industry and turned it into his dream business of providing unique lighting to satisfy the needs of his customers. Greg has reproduced and restored antique lighting fixtures throughout his career, working directly with historic museums and curators as well as homeowners and architects. His reproduction work has been seen in many films (Amistad, The Patriot, and others such as Father of the Bride).

Your Part in the Preservation of Paine Castle

• What was the biggest challenge of this project?

  • Every restoration presents different challenges and problems, from figuring out how to run wire through arms that were originally for gas, to matching finishes and glass shades, each aspect has its own unique problems to solve.

• Who from your team contributed?

  • As a sole proprietor I do all the work myself.

• What could be the next step for your team if we secured funding?

  • Much of the original lighting in the building needs attention, hopefully I can provide that service for Paine Castle as well as supplying fixtures for the areas where the original fixtures are missing.

An interesting selection of glass shades, crystals and finials are available to embellish and customize the chandeliers, sconces and table lamps
